Travel and Tourism Management

Travel Agent Courses

In our Travel and Tourism Management program, we start you with your own laptop computer, then give you comprehensive training in every area of travel and tourism. Graduates will complete this program with an in-depth understanding of the many extended applications of a variety of office software packages, including word processing, spreadsheets, presentation preparation, and file management. The Travel and Tourism Management Program will prepare you for industry with in-depth training in the Apollo and Sabre reservation systems used in the field.

Familiarization Trip

Gain first-hand experience in international travel with a one-week familiarization tour. Students work with a budget to plan a familiarization tour to a vacation destination. Destination is based on market conditions, prevailing prices, and product availability.

The 2017 class departed from the Port of Miami for a Carnival Glory 7 day cruise to Half Moon Cay (Bahamas), St. Thomas, San Juan, and finally Grand Turk (Turks and Caicos).

Modular Training

Our Travel and Tourism Management program uses a modular system of training. In modular programs, theoretical and practical issues are closely integrated, and learning outcomes are clearly defined.

TICO Certification

Every person who is working for a retail agency, selling travel services or providing travel advise on behalf of an Ontario-registered agency, by law, must meet TICO’s Industry Education Standards as set out in the Travel Industry Act, 2002.

Because many Nova Scotia agencies have a head office or branch offices in Ontario, or have online access, NS agents must meet these requirements too. All students in our program take this exam as part of their training.

Practical Hands-on Training

Our Travel and Tourism Management Diploma employs a variety of techniques to ensure that students thrive in a stimulating environment. In addition to traditional classroom instruction, our Instructors employ field trips, guest speakers, industry videos, team projects, online interaction, case studies, role playing, and mock simulations.

Graduate in 14 months

Attend our Travel and Tourism Management program for 12 consecutive months, and then complete 2 months of on-the-job training. During this period, students have a winter break, spring break, summer break, and are off on statutory holidays. Take our Travel and Tourism Management program, and receive your Diploma in just 14 months!

Attend classes from Monday to Thursday, and have Fridays off for a job or recreation. Four day weeks limit your travel and therefore minimize your travelling costs. Attendance on Fridays is optional if students want extra help. Note: Attendance on Fridays may occasionally be required to make up for unanticipated cancellations.
